HCAA Member Schools,

The state cheer event is just around the corner (Saturday, November 4th). Please take a moment to read the attachments, as well as email the association the following information:

Hope you are having a successful season so far. Cheer state is just around the corner and I am sending this email to everyone to check in and see how things are going. Please respond to this email with a few things:
1. Team division
2. Number of members on the team
3. Names and grade classification of those trying out for Allstate and AllStar

Date: November 4
Location: TBD

Team Competition
Each team will perform a routine that they would do at halftime of a game. The routine can be a cheer, dance, or combination of both. It can could include any tumbling and stunts you wanted to put into it. Routines have varied in length from a minute to about two minutes. The cleanest and most solid routine will be given the title of state champion.

A full size nationals floor will be performed on. Please follow the general safety guidelines provided by and followed by all major cheer brands, NCA, UCA, and ACA. NO BASKET TOSSES ALLOWED at the JUNIOR HIGH LEVEL please.

  • Divisions
  • Varsity
  • Junior High

Individual Competition
All State competition ~ 9th – 12th Grade only
Individual competition is very similar to NCA All American tryouts
Cheerleaders will need to:
1. spirit or tumble to the middle of the mat
2. perform 3 connected jumps (they can be whipped or reloaded in between)
3. perform a cheer or chant of their choice with one incorporation (jump or standing tumbling)
4. A coach’s evaluation is added to this form, please fill out and send to me as soon as possible. These scores will be kept confidential. We want to allow the coach’s to give the girls points for things not reflected on a tryout form such as leadership, spirit during games, and overall attitude. These are important things to consider when choosing an All State team.

Cheerleaders who make the All State get an opportunity to perform together at the All State basketball games in March.

All Star competition ~ 8th grade and below
Individual competition is very similar to NCA All American tryouts
Cheerleaders will need to:
1. spirit or tumble to the middle of the mat
2. perform 2 connected jumps (they can be whipped or reloaded in between)
3. perform a cheer or chant of their choice with one incorporation (jump or standing tumbling)

I would love to try to get the All Star Cheerleaders together to cheer a game together during basketball season. We can discuss this further at the coach’s meeting :)
Hope this information helps. I have attached the registration packet, as well as judges sheets. If you know of any other schools within the HCAA that have cheer squads, please let me know. We would love to have them participate. If your school has a Junior High and Varsity team, please forward this information on to the other teams! Thank you for your help with making this the best state competition yet. Have a blessed season!
